THE WHITES

Riesling

2008 Riesling
This Riesling shows marvellous citrus blossom on the nose with steely, lime juice and grapefruit flavours on the palate, typical of this variety when grown in a cool climate. An austere style has been produced which can be enjoyed with seafood or Asian cuisine.

Sauvignon Blanc

2009 Sauvignon Blanc
The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc shows more herbaciousness and mineral character than the 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. Gooseberry, passionfruit and fresh green apple can be found on the nose and palate, making this a delightful style with today's modern cuisine.

Gewurztraminer

2009 Gewurztraminer
This dry Gewurztraminer displays the varietal characteristics of spice, lychee, musk and rose water. These beautiful aromas combine with a lusciousness on the palate of peach nectar, red apple and lychee. This gives overall mouth fill and weight, with balanced acidity. Gewurztraminer will cellar well, making this a great example for aging. We recommend this wine with aromatic seafood, Asian or Thai style meals or just on its own!

THE REDS

Zinfandel

2008 Zinfandel
The 2008 Zinfandel with the sweet fruit nose of the 2001 and 2002 Zins - does come in at 16.7 % alcohol but it will not burn your nose with spirit. It is well balanced, with great sweet rhubarb and stewed berries with a hint of chocolate, cinnamon, cigar box and luscious berry fruit jam characters. This is one can be enjoyed now or after cellaring.

Barbera

2008 Reserve Barbera
This is the first year that a straight Barbera has been produced. It is a mouth filler with rich olive tapenade, ripe fruit, dark chocolate and cigar flavours. Wow, big big big flavours beautiful balanced by tannin, acid and fruit flavours. This is an exceptional wine in very limited supply. 17.3% alcohol.

Merlot

2008 Merlot
The deep crimson hues of this 2008 Merlot keeps me enthusiastic. With about 12 years of making the merlot, there is consistently dark blood plum and ripe berry fruit flavours. Great tannins and excellent length. It is certainly not a light weight Merlot. We suggest this wine will drink exceptionally well over the next 4 to 8 years. This is a great food wine. Partner it with roast meats or a friend around the kitchen table.

DESSERT WINES AND LIQUEURS

2007 Dessert Zinfandel

This was made in conjunction with our very good friend and Winemaker Steve Langham from Piggs Peake in the Hunter Valley www.piggspeake.com.

We had heard of this style being made by one place in S.A. as well as in the U.S.A., so away we went. The wine is deliberately sweet and very thick, like jam. The grapes are harvested extremely ripe and we allow the ferment to stop, leaving residual sugar and full grape flavours. It is great with anything chocolate. Please email us with any other terrific food combinations you may have enjoyed with it.

Very limited amount due to drought. 375ml bottle $35.00/bottle. Order Now.

Phoenix
This fortified wine represents the wine maker's folly. It will not be made every year and may be from different varieties from year to year.

I intend the Phoenix to be a luscious winter warmer, showing varietal characteristics and depth of flavour. The grapes are the last to be harvested allowing for concentration of sugars and flavours and hand picked with care to gather every last one. A careful fermentation leaves large amounts of residual sugars and flavour. I hope you enjoy your time with Phoenix on the lounge.

2005 Cherry Liqueur
Produced from chemical-free cherries from Cargo Road Winery. Unmistakable cherry flavour with ripe cherry sweetness to follow. It can be poured on ice cream or sponge cake to make an instant dessert with lashings of ice cream. Alternatively, splash it into a glass of Champagne or Vodka and soda. The choice is yours.
